Meet the founder
Coach Houston Dozier
Houston Dozier is a highly accomplished martial artist with decades of experience and expertise across multiple disciplines. He began training in martial arts at the young age of eight years old, inspired by a lifelong passion for learning and growth.
Houston’s journey started in 1994 under Mr. Jim Smothers, where he studied a wide range of arts including Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Panantukan Boxing, Kali, Penjak Silat, Jun Fan Gung Fu, JKD Concept, and Wing Chun. Along the way, he had the unique opportunity to learn directly from students of Bruce Lee, gaining rare insights into the philosophies and techniques of Jeet Kune Do.
In 2006, Houston expanded his skillset by studying Jiu-Jitsu and Catch Wrestling, further deepening his understanding of grappling and ground fighting. By 2012, he became a core part of the New Breed Training Center, where he has since led and developed the Muay Thai program into one of its strongest offerings.
Beyond martial arts, Houston has always carried a creative side. Growing up, he was influenced by his mother, who was a painter, and he often sketched and painted as a child. That artistic background became the foundation for what would later become Angry Teddy.
Houston realized that much of the fighting gear available looked very similar, with little variety or originality. He wanted to create something different, something that combined his creativity with his lifelong love of martial arts and the video games he grew up playing. Angry Teddy was born out of this vision. Each design takes inspiration from the nostalgic characters and games of his childhood, reimagined through the lens of fierce teddy bears. The teddy bears represent those iconic characters while bringing a playful yet powerful energy to modern fighting gear.
